Description

Illustrazione a matita e china su cartoncino (25 x 30 cm) eseguita dal giovane talento americano Gus Dirks, fratello del più famoso Rudolph, morto suicida nel 1902 a soli 21 anni.
Meraviglioso esempio di un'arte intrisa di poesia e fantasia che portarono il giovane Gus a specializzarsi nella rappresentazione di insetti antropomorfi alle prese con la loro vita quotidiana nella contea di Bugville.
Titolo di quest'opera è: "Awake awake: the squirrel is coming", pubblicata successivamente il 4 Novembre 1914 sul magazine americano The Wilmington Morning Star.
Incredibile pensare come un giovane ragazzo che si firmava con un fiore possa aver deciso di porre fine alla propria vita.
