Description

When my three girls were all very young (20+ years ago), I took them to a LCS for the first time. While we were there the girls decided that I should buy Betty & Veronica Double Digest #14 because their mother was on the cover. The resemblance to Veronica is fairly strong.

As my eldest, Allie, approached graduation, I decided to commission a special piece of artwork for her - a recreation of the cover of the comic.

The problem was, "Who should I ask to do it?" The DeCarlos are no longer with us so that avenue was closed. I'd already used Dan Parent for a piece for Rebecca's HS graduation and I'd prefer someone new to me.

I left a note at Stan Goldberg's website, but that didn't work out. Then, I stumbled upon John Sterling Lucas on eBay.

For those that don't know, John recreated Katy Keene for Archie with the blessing of Bill Woggon, Katy's creator. Katy is BIG in my house. Elizabeth, my middle daughter, has an Katy Keene page that she loves.

Once I thought of John, I figured out the rest of the piece. I'd have him add Katy and Sis and Allie to the picture. You can see the result.

I can tell you that we are very pleased with the result, with John's communications, and adherence to a deadline. If you are interested in a commission, drop John a line or friend him on Facebook. You'll be glad that you did.
