Description

This is what Fred said about this painting: Many years ago, before having children. I owned a pet Boa Constrictor (Tina) along with various other snakes and lizards. The Boa was becoming too large for me to take care of. She was roughly six and a half to seven feet long. I wanted to do a painting of the snake before I sold her off. A close friend of mine, at the time, agreed to pose with Tina. I could not have predicted her comfort and ease with the snake.

The snake or serpent is one of the oldest mythological symbols in human history representing both good and evil. In some cultures the snake represents fertility and rebirth, sexual desire and the umbilical cord connecting mankind to mother earth. In other cultures it represents vengefulness and vindictiveness.

"Eve" was painted in 1996 in oil on illustration board and measures 8.75 x 16.5. Signed lower right. She is nicely framed in a gold Plein Air frame with a title plaque.
