DescriptionA Batman page without Batman? Meh you say? Why buy it?The first caption box sums it all: " 5 of the highest paid assassins in the world come to Gotham city". And when they are this well drawn, not to mention I love many of them, the page, though obviously expensive, was a no brainer. I mean for the characters alone, the page is a hit. A great shot of Deathstroke, even in his overtechy armor, with two badass blades, Shiva who I have loved since the Robin/Batgirl series and Deadshot of Suicide Squad fame. Each possess their own body language. Deathstroke so sure of himself, Deadshot who looks like a nervous dog eager to jump and bite and Shiva who looks more aerial, acrobatic in her stance. Even KGBeast, towering the others with sheer size, and Merlyn preparing his shot, whom I don't care much for look fantastic (and it's not easy to draw an archer looking dangerous). And that's the word I would to sum the page up. Dangerous. They are assassins so that's obvious but the page really radiates dangerousness. With Deathstroke having killed someone in his bath and Mayor Penguin looking creepy as hell in the last panel, another character not easy to infuse dangerousness with. (I actually prefer Deathstroke's face here as it looks more like a mask than a helmet, more in tune with the original Perez design). This was my first published March example before I bought my cover and it really hit a lot of buttons for me on top of all the villains. The Gotham rooftops are superbly rendered. Those are foggy and slippery (because of the leaking water tanks?), dark and gritty settings and the atmosphere is fantastic. It really grounds the page. (Notice how windy it is up there? So much that Shiva's clothes are blown in another direction than Deathstroke's ribbons. But then again, those little details really enhance the overall circling composition here). And that sky with the textured clouds and the resultingly wavy Bat signal? Again, a superb little touch that adds so much to the overall atmosphere. So, no Bats, but a winner all around, I find. It's a winner on all accounts: composition, atmosphere, characters, body language, textures, the whole combo is perfect. Really happy for you, congrats!! Thanks for sharing this with us.

Guillem March is one of the artists who I've found to have gotten progressively better over the last decade or so, in all facets of artistry, which you've covered in your description. I don't know who was the artist to do it first, but I'm very glad that someone finally strayed away from the norm in terms of Penguin's design, as it stuck for so many decades and was so laughably stupid for all of that time. Keeping him looking like an older gentleman but with a less comical and more serious approach allows the reader to finally take him seriously. I certainly echo your sentiments on Deathstroke's ridiculously bulky costume (Deadshot too), but at least he still gives off the appearance and attitude of a serious badass!

This looks like Gotham has devolved once more into March madness and these desperate times need a Batman to come a riding into town like a sheriff to clean this up!

"March Madness". I think I'd pick this one to win the tournament.

I am Batman 93 pg2, the bringer of death. Dangerous is a very apt description. Panel two is as dark as it gets! March really killed this baddie page. Who needs more? It's filled to the brim with awesome. The bat signal behind the mugging killers is perfect. Excellent score. Congrats!

Liking the line work on this one. Got a lot of diagonal lines for rendering, which adds a nice comprehensive feel to the piece. Very cool seeing the bat signal above all the baddies up top! Congrats!

Now THAT is a fully rendered page! Gorgeous design, layout, and (dare I say it?) execution. Great narrative flow and trust me, Batman isn't missed on this page. Absolutely incredible linework here, F M, with the densely-packed crosshatching of the water tower behind Deathstroke, to the looser hatching in the flowing cape of the sai and katana-wielding assassin on the left (sorry - I don't know the names of all involved here), to the long, thin lines on the ledge beneath Deathstroke's feet... the Batsignal on the wispy clouds above their heads... And I think my favorite part of this page isn't even that first panel; that may be the folds of clothing and hand-drawn texture of the clothing being worn by the goons behind the Penguin in panel three. Beautiful, beautiful work. This page feels like it contains nearly a little bit of everything you can do with a pen. It feels a little like a Kevin O'Neill page to me in that way. Gorgeous add, F M. This is an amazing piece to just sit and stare at, and I have found myself doing just that (even more than usual) while writing this comment. Sincere congrats on this beauty!
