DescriptionDAW Books No. 130. This Kelly Freas prelim is for the cover of "The Fenris Device"by Brian Stableford. It was published by DAW Books in 1974. This is another Freas prelim for which I also have the published painting which can be seen in my Kelly Freas Gallery Room. It is always interesting to see the artist's initial ideas and inspiration for a cover and then to be able to see the changes he made as the painting developed! Social/Sharing |

Nice idea to have the cavernous terrain to shield the vehicle from the lightning. They completely removed them to have the lighting strike them to get a more dramatically charged cover.

Great composition, textures, and atmospherics! I like the gloomier feel of the prelim
