Description

This is something you rarely see. I mean, when do you ever see a Golden Age Phantom Lady page ... let alone a splash? This was from an unpublished story slated to appear in Ajax Comics... which ended its run with issue 4 in 1955 featuring not one, but TWO Phantom Ladies!

Not sure who the artist is, but I own the entire 7-page story.

I should add that this story was printed once in a Phantom Lady series edited by Roy Thomas. When I purchased it, I learned that the original owner had used whiteout and made the bustlines larger... for some reason.

This same person was one to do the same on old Fiction House art, whiting out the clothes on the female lead character and depicting them as nude throughout the story. An example sold this past week at Heritage and I am showing another example in this folder.

Just an incredible splash with PL jumping into action with her black light projector and high heels. Published or not, this is a Golden Age gem.

What an absolutely spectacular splash! Such a shame that the artist remains unrecognized even after all the decades that have passed since it was first drawn.
