DescriptionThis was the start of my addiction with painted art, and the first Glenn Fabry piece I ever bought. UKCAC (UK Comic and Art Convention) used to be the big show in London once a year, and all the UK artists, and the visiting US artists, would contribute a piece which was printed in a large magazine, and the art auctioned off on the Saturday afternoon. Oh, the covers I have bought and missed from that auction! In those days I couldn't afford 300 pounds (about US$500) for the most glorious John Bolton ManBat painted cover! This particular year, UKCAC were doing a tribute to Jack Kirby, and all the pieces submitted were Kirby-esque, or reinterpretations of Kirby characters. Glenn's magnificent central figure is Kirby's Alien Princess from his 2001. She's supposed to be holding a handheld computer, but Glenn liked the rabbit his model (wife Nikki) was holding, and decided to keep it. Nikki I believe did the background - she has a wicked sense of humour (needs to have, with Glenn!), and used Kirby panels with changed dialogue boxes. I used to stare at this, and imagine what it could possibly be like to own ANOTHER piece by this awesome artist ... Social/Sharing |

I remember this auction (my first) and I remember this piece very vividly.. I may have even bid but I expect my limit was about 20 quid back then...! It took me 17 years to finally find the piece that I was upset about missing from this auction so it's great to see another piece pop up... Thanks Simon :) The bunny makes it just that incy-wincy bit more awesome....

I remember that one. And this cover is a real blast from the past. Cool.
