Description

Here's the before...and I know you're thinking "Why tamper with a Dave Steven's sketch?" Here me out. I had been attending cons since '95 without once ever asking a creator for a sketch. 2002 rolls around and I learn that my favorite artist will be attending a Dallas comic-con. I buy a sketchbook, make the 2 hour trek to Dallas and spy Dave across the room. There he is! No lines! No one around! I can't believe it. I warily walk over and ask Dave for a sketch. He replies, "I only do Rocketeer headshots." My mind reels "What else would you ask for?" but I blurt out "That's exactly what I wanted!" I was thrilled - Dave popped the cherry on my sketchbook and every time I opened it the first thing I would see is my Rocketeer sketch. Dave made my decade. I had a very similar experience at the '02 Dallas Con! (similar sketch in my gallery.) Dave was super nice and will be missed. The inked sketch looks fantastic!
