Severin takes the set direction and cinematography out of the film and places it here. The red lighting sequence has so many different hues and blended smoothly with the reflection of the exterior of space that she can extract more passion from Kirby's art to the reader.

Gorgeous colors by Marie Severin! For this issue, she limits the color palette to focus the reader's attention. I love the way she used a mix of red tones in the center scene as if we are watching the astronaut through the camera of the computer HAL. It seems HAL is watching Boman as the spaceship approaches the mysterious alien object. Really well done effect by Severin.
