This 1982 version was a fresh take of the character as issue 134 was just 2 years prior and had not returned to comics. Doran shows off some of that superhero moxie and gives this a stunning presentation of those frearsome Phoenix flames that blaze across your retinas.

I like how the hair and flames blend in to be one and the same.
