Description

So happy to finally add this amazing piece by French illustrator and artist Julien Delval to the collection. It�s one I�ve had my eye on for awhile. Titled �The Stranger� (�L�Etranger�), it was originally a personal piece from 2018 and was published in Spectrum 26 where it was awarded a Nomination in the Unpublished category. It was subsequently published as the cover image for �The Witcher, A World of Legends: Novels, Video Games, Series� by Justine Breton, published by Bragelonne in 2023. It also appeared in Julien�s art book, �Julien Delval: Une Monographie� (Julien Delval: A Monograph) published by Editions Caurette in 2020.

That citadel is so complete! It makes you focus on the all the little details that then carries over to make you look at the foreground for a fun surprise.

It loses that element of surprise in the published book where it's just the left side and you see the troll front and center.

Very classic looking and full of great detail. The painting pulls you in with the horse rider.
