DescriptionEarlier this year I was listening to the Felix Comic Art podcast (as all collectors should) and I heard DWJ say he’d like a Mignola piece. I reached out to Daniel and Felix and we worked out an art-swap, which was just a really fantastic way for this to go down. Taking the element of cash out of the equation really gives it a great personal touch, and I’ll NEVER let go of this piece. DWJ posted process images as he was working on this and the amount of effort and professional integrity that he has is admirable. Many thanks to all involved and enjoy this color masterpiece.Update 2023 - It looks like the concept found a little nook in DDubs brain and burrowed in, only to emerge in a more developed form as a variant cover to Dr Strange: Fall Sunrise #1 - Cool! I was immediately attracted to this piece, so unusual in that it's peaceful and contemplative, almost 'domestic' in its feel, which seems particularly appropriate for Dr. Strange, a scholar in his sanctum. Maybe it's due to my aging, that I find this a refreshing change from the usual heroic posturing , sense of threat, or violence of the majority of popular commissions you see. Congratulations on trading for a lovely piece you'll never let go of!

So cool. The perspective, colors, overall moodiness...just a unique and splendid image all around. Big congrats!

I remember watching the progres of this (including the one he scrapped) and was thinking how wonderful and peacful it was. And I love the story of the art swap.

F the F off, DWJ! Making us all feel worse about our collections because we don't have pieces like this in them!

Fabulous piece! Love the perspective and detail as we get a glimpse into Dr Strange's downtime.

Absolutely sensational. Like, literally causing sensations - of the sting of cool winter breezes and the relief of a warm chair. I love that the focal point of the whole piece is a fire in the hearth, and I find myself staring into the paint and colors just as I would a "real" fire. I hear the crackling of embers. (More of those darn sensations.) Great story about the art trade, too! Well-played all around, sir!

The Doctor needs a housekeeper. The place is a mess, or is that the Wong comment to leave?

This is wonderful - both the piece itself, and the story of how it came together! It's also such a unique take. You have moments where you feel like you've seen every kind of image of a character, and then you see something that makes you go, "Well, I haven't seen that before!". Just great all around on all aspects of this, and big congrats on getting a piece that is obviously very special for you.
