L'illustrazione raffigura un evento della Guerra russo-giapponese (1904-05), nello specifico la resa e l'abbandono di Port Arthur da parte delle truppe russe comandate dal generale Stoessel' avvenuto il 5 gennaio del 1905, dopo l'assedio delle truppe giapponesi.
