Description

The crucifixion is perhaps the most depicted scene in art history. Here we have an amazing splash by David Finch on one of the first books he ever worked on. This is very early in his career and you can see the detail work that he would later become know for. This book was originally published in 1998. Amazing composition on this page which details the crucifixion in a flashback of the origin of the Magdalena (also in one of her very first appearances). David went all out on this page with the art being literally edge to edge with skilled use of white paint over the inks to create the light effects. Stunning in person.

Christ Almighty! The only way for Finch to impove upon this was to make it a vertical DPS.
