DescriptionI've never heard of this artist before, but I liked the drawing so I bought it anyway. I believe this was inscribed to the cartoonist, Morris Weiss, who did some pencils and inks for Timely Comics as well as created the character, Margie. Apparently, this was the first piece of art he ever acquired. It accompanied the story, "You Can't Tell," by Samuel Merwin, published in the Feb 6, 1932, issue of Liberty Magazine. Incidentally, that issue featured cover art by the great Leslie Thrasher. Man, I'd love to get a piece of his work!Social/Sharing |

I love it! I was in on this one as well, but turned off by the 3rd party shipping. How did that work out for you? It's a gorgeous piece!!

It's a gorgeous piece!!I've used Navis Pack & Ship on my Heritage purchases, and they've done a really nice job. Much better than my experience with some of the smaller auction houses that seem to be less well-organized. Did you end up picking up any pieces at that auction?

I have bought comic book and strip art however. I really like this artist. His "Soldiers in Battle" Illustration which sold on HA back in 2010 is really nice!!
