This was published as the cover to Mystery Comics Digest #12 1973- Twilight Zone- Gold Key.

Drew, the artwork as painted by George Wilson was published twice; as Mystery Comics Digest #12 and Twilight Zone #2. Dan Spiegle sometimes re-drew Wilson painted art into line art (like he did for Brother of the Spear). This Dan Spiegle line drawing was not published as Twilight Zone folded before his recreation of the earlier George Wilson painting could be used.

Wow, it really looks like the orginal painting at a glance. Your statement makes sense. Bur, that would have been so cool to find out it was published.
