DescriptionThis is a nice full figure convention sketch that Jason Latour likely drew at Angouleme in 2016 when he was invited to promote his great Southern Bastards series.I say likely because it was not drawn for me. I won it dirt (DIRT!) cheap (CHEAP!) on ebay and noticed the date is the same as my own Man-Thing sketch Jason drew for me. This is much more elaborate obviously as she is fully rendered with a fun touch of color. Funny bit is that we discussed the explosion of the character back when as Jason told me he could not believe how popular she was, based on the various merch and tons of cosplayer he was experiencing at cons. She now co-stars in the very popular young age Spidey & his amazing friends animated series and has been a huge part of the Spidey in the multi-spider-verse explosion. So, owning a full figure of Ghost-Spider by her creator was really appealing to me (as her design is so well-balanced and elegant), especially now that he’s become so rare at drawing (and certainly not for the mainstream/Big Two). Great energy in this one. You can tell he enjoys drawing his creation. Fun cityscape at the bottom too!

Really fun with the more Spidery pose as opposed to how she's drawn now which emphaiszes the more graceful ballerina look.

Very playful, especially with the 'wobbly' and vibrant cityscape in red.

Sweet Spidey-Gwen sketch! That's pretty wild how you won it on Ebay but it also happened to be from one of your own local shows that you also attended and got other sketches at. That's a perfect combination if you also were looking to add a Latour Spider-Gwen in general. Good stuff.
P.S. - I feel like they have changed what we're supposed to call her so many times (Spider-Gwen, Spider-Woman, Ghost-Spider) and then there's other offshots of Gwen Stacy (Gwenom etc.) in modern times, that my brain sometimes needs a reset on where and what the character is supposed to be nowadays (I do enjoy the character in the 2 Spider-Verse movies so far which you pointed out) - but that's my own problem lol.

Beautiful sketch! Jason's design of Spider-Gwen / Ghost Spider is -SO- strong (beautiful, elegant, and exciting all at once), it's no surprise that the character resonates as well as she does. As you say, getting a sketch of the character by her co-creator is fantastic, and the splash of color (along with the highly stylized cityscape "doodle" at the bottom) really make this one very special. Great pick up, Fred! Congrats!
