DescriptionJames Harren is like Michael Golden. Yes, that's what I said. And I only kind of mean it. When I look at this, I see a trippy version of the 90s Michael Golden Batman/Detective Comics covers. James threw just about everything at this so it's a feast for the eyes. Blue pencil, inks, white out/white paint, more inks and some zipatone to top it off. Social/Sharing |

Awesome cover Simon! I tried for this one myself, but you were quick on the draw! Nicely done!

Harren's going back to his roots here with the uses of screen tone, splatter, strong brushwork, and maze like design of the older part of Gotham. It is so Batman can navigate around the envrionment like the Spirit did in Central City.

Never tire of how James approaches architecture, and it works very well here. It's so quirky and unique, absolutely love it. Great cover!

I love this one so much! James understands that Batman's cape should be 50 feet long and the building reminds me of the wonderful expressionistic architecture in The Cabinet of Dr Caligari.

Lots of great techniques in play on this wonderful cover! For me the buildings have a bit of a Harry Potter wizardly, magical feeling. Very cool!

Love how Bats is mostly cape and cowl, and that kind of wonky building underneath...perfect. Congrats!
