Description

Full title: Becky Lee, L'Avventura di una fotomodella, 1986.
Colored pen and ink on heavy illustration board, 14,75" x 20". First published in COMIC ART magazine, Milan 1988.

Guido Crepas (15 July 1933 � 31 July 2003 in Milan), better known by his nom de plume Guido Crepax, was an Italian comics artist. He is most famous for his character Valentina, created in 1965 and very representative of the spirit of the 1960s. The Valentina series of books and strips became noted for Crepax's sophisticated drawing, and the psychedelic, dreamlike storylines, generally involving a strong dose of erotism. A film based on his work called Baba Yaga, featuring the character Valentina, was made in 1973.

A highly stylistic Crepax page with all his signature elements, except for nakedness, but I had to buy a page that my wife could accept. The color was a bonus.

Crepax is an artist whose art I can appreciate, even if, in my limited exposure to his works, I have not come across many of his comics in which I have a great interest. This page, with all its interesting stylistic touches and great design, is one of the best pages by the artist that I have come across on CAF and a great example of why I like to stop and admire his work when I come across it.
