damn man, usually I'm up for quips with your post but for this one I'm just so into it I'm gona gawk gawk gawk and express a wee bit of jealousy as I'd love to own this one myself ;-p - The "Death" of Valkyrie!!

This time period of Defenders I read very early on in my exposure to Marvel Comics as a kid, but I don't have quite the eagle eye when it comes to identifying inkers given multiple options like that but I'm sure someone out there has the skillz.

The great difficulty in identifying who may have applied inks to this page isthat of the first 3 inkers you listed, aside from Chic Stone specifically over Kirby, none of them had anything particularly identifiable about their inking style that they did consistently enough to be immediately identifiable. The other thing to keep in mind is that more than one of these inkersmay have been in the Marvel offices and could've pitched in on the same pages. I do see Milgrom inks in panel two, but not really anywhere else. Although I wouldn't bet on it, I feel pretty confident that panels 1 and 4 are by Chic Stone. Panel 3 is probably Trapani or Esposito.

It's pretty hard to take the death of any superhero seriously these days. it seems like eveyone who dies turns up alive again. After Superman and Jean Grey came back to life, anything seems possible. That said, this is a pretty cool death scene with Valkyrie taking an RPG in the back at close quarters. She ought to be dead. But since this happened over 20 years ago and I've seen issue #109 with Valkyrie on the cover, I'd say I'm not too worried. Too bad. Now we can never truly fear that our favorite character will die. Because they may die but they won't stay dead. Too bad life isn't like that.
