DescriptionHere we learn Darth Vader can't sleep, what with that blasted hissing sound. Think about it and what if he snores? No sleep apnea machine fitting on that helmet. So what does one Evil Lord do when he can't sleep. Lots of pacing, mucho brooding, counting clones and phone calls. First to check on the battles, then late night booty calls to Padme Amidala. Beautiful page, John - Those pencils are incredible! I always find it very interesting how modern projects handle the 70's set dressing that was employed (out of necessity) on the original Star Wars, and what steps they take to match the visual look, decades past (and it's kind of fun to imagine just how long they're going to need to do so - every time there's an Episode 4-era story! - stretching into the infinite future...). It certainly looks great and matches up neatly here. I'm no artist, but I wonder if it might be easier to draw these uniform, industrial style backgrounds on a project set in this era of the Star Wars timeline? Really beautiful page, John! Congrats!

Maybe if this was an issue of Star Wars High Times he wouldn't have as much trouble sleeping. Skywalker OG, Bubba Fett, Jedi Kush, Jawa, Master Yoda, Death Star, Han Solo Burger, Jabba OG, Yoda OG, Ewok, The Dank Side, or OG1 Kenobi could help him sleep in the short term.

Always wondered what those rocker switches on his chest plate were for. Maybe helmet hiss volume? Harmonics?
But seriously, tight pencils on this killer page! Congrats!

Gorgeous pencils by Doug Wheatley! I love the classic storytelling on this page. The opening establishing scene, then the three middle panels following Darth Vader, ending with the magnificent bottom panel, which is the money shot. Beautifully composed!

A great page by one of the best Star Wars artists to ever draw a comic!
Dark Times was an amazing series and the art is so detailed that each panel is worth framing!
I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Wheatley a few years ago and I have a Ventress piece by him- I sure wish I had more!
