DescriptionThe Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck-The Billionaire of Dismal Downs,page 2.Originally published in 1993 in Denmark by Egmont, and later reprinted in the United States for the first time in Uncle Scrooge #293 (Gladstone, 1995), "The Billionaire of Dismal Downs" is the ninth installment in the original 12-chapter series The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck. Free from his debt with Soapy Slick, Scrooge decides to use his money to make more money by buying the White Horse bank. This was the page that made me fall most in love with Chapter 9 of The Life and Times of Scrooge series for the first two panels. Don Rosa copied the scenes in these two panels from Barks' story 'North of the Yukon', one of my favorite stories. Also in the third panel, the scene recreated by Don Rosa, in which Uncle Scrooge is insulted by the inhabitants of Dawson, is taken from the story “Only a Poor Man”, another important story by Barks. For these details and for a secret reason, that I will perhaps reveal in the near future, this was the page I would have liked to have in my collection. Created in ink over graphite on two sheets of Bristol board with a combined image area of approximately 12.25" x 17.5". Signed by Rosa in the lower right margin Social/Sharing |

A wonderful score! Rosa in this time period was so inventive and so creative in storytelling making Scrooge legends and becoming a legend himself!
