DescriptionI have been fascinated with Gary's art for several years now. At the same time, while I usually am a hero collector as opposed to a villain collector - I have a soft spot for Bizarro and Solomon Grundy. Recently I gave up my only example with Grundy to a Batman collector who really wanted it and I have to admit I miss the art. Has this ever happened to you?So when this cover became available I was instantly mesmerized. One of the reasons I love Gary's work so much is his rendering. This one really pushed the rendering and almost feels like a Wrightson. Maybe its because of the swampy location. Did you see the leaping frog? Thanks for checking out my gallery. Social/Sharing |

Fantastic cover, with amazing details and inks! And yes, I can see the leaping frog, but you should post a larger scan of this beauty ;)

I love solomon grundy (and bizarro). This is a great image of him (no idea who the guy in the background is. Azrael?)

Yeah the swampy location does throw one off, a sewer is the more expected location for Solomon Grundy. But it does provide a great atmosphere and you wouldn't expect to be able to include a frog if it were in a sewer. Congrats.

This might be my favorite GF cover from the past several years. The linework and detail are just incredible. Love the trees, of course. But really just appreciate all the work he put into the whole thing. Especially the main figure. Not sure what Grundy piece you gave up, but this is Karma paying you back in spades.

Yes, the swamp setting definitely gives off some Wrightson vibes. The fact that he set the scene at night also required a lot of shadow play, much more than a typical Frank cover has, which is great and the rendering is as beautiful as it ever is. Check out the frog leaping for its life, it can't jump out of the way fast enough! Solomon Grundy rocks!

Great and intense looking Grundy!! Gary Frank really knows how to draw the viewers attention in on the drama of a scene or cover.

Fantastic that they show Grundy on the run like a fugitive in the swamps showing his fear of Azrael on the prowl!

Grundy loves him some swamp. I wonder if he's ever done battle with Swampy? Seems like that would be pretty cool, imo. Frank killed this cover. All that precise detail and perfect inks. The crosshatching looks so nice. And he took up almost the whole board! Excellent work. Congrats!

Phenomenal cover by Gary Frank! Love the lush dark shadows that frame the scene. The silhouetted figure of Moon Knight is otherworldly. And the amount of detail Frank went into on Solomon Grundy is incredible! Outstanding!

This is gorgeous. OK, yet another Gary Frank piece in your collection that makes me think I gotta get on getting one of my own. Your last 2...oh so good. Digging the sense of atmosphere here, and the shadowed areas really make the super precise linework stand out even more, as if it needed it. Must look even better in person. Congrats, man!

Definitely has Bernie vibes all over. Grundy could just as easily be Swamp Thing here. Love the detail, contrast, and framing, including the feel of the chase in the Swamp. Great pickup!

From the thumbnail it looks like it could have been from Wrightson's Hidden Treasures (Batman/Grundy). Congrats this is a nice one!
