Description

This was the first JLGL page I ever acquired and it's still one of my favorite pieces in my collection. I love the subtlety with which JLGL drew Clark Kent revealing his Superman shirt.

The dialog and characterizations of both Robin and Alfred, bring me back to my youth when I would run home at lunch to watch re-runs of the 60s Batman TV show.

As always, thank you for checking out my gallery.

I love everything about this page, Dukie! That middle panel though, of Superman 'at ease', just slays me! Thanks for sharing!

Great page Duke. It's only missing Aunt Harriet.

I’m keepin’ Bruce in the dark
(Come on)
Don’t wanna light up the knight
(Come on)
I’m keeping Bruce in the dark
(Come on)
Don’t gonna light up the knight

Wearing Bat jams in the middle of the night
Can see the Knight’s thighs in Garcia Lopez lines

If Superman, make sure you call into Gotham

Make sure that your ink streak, beats up the Robin
The Joker runs wild and he meddles with the crimes
The Joker runs loose, crazies lurking in the night
Nothing in between his schemes but it’s Gotham
Make sure that your art team, beats up the Robin

The night-time
Is the right lines

I’m keepin’ Bruce in the dark
And never stop
Don’t wanna light up the knight
When shooting starts
Whenever you hear the sound
Don't be alarmed
Ooh, ooh, ooh
Keep him in the dark

This is really a fun, and of course beautifully drawn, page.  You've got Robin begging Batman to stay in bed and rest (though really, TWO weeks for a flesh wound to heal?  C'mon ... He's Batman!  After Bane broke his back, I think it only took him three weeks to recover).  You've got that great panel of Superman lazing around ("Alfred, Superman here.  Since Batman will be sleeping a lot, can you come over and make me some tea?").  And then you get Alfred agreeing to the plot to keep Batman in the dark.  Sneaky Alfred!  Throwing that newspaper in one of those wire mesh trash cans.  Batman will NEVER see that huge headline about the Joker through those open spaces.

Oh my many and varied gods! What an amazing page. Funny, filled with character, and ecellent example of JLGL's talents. There's nothing about this that I wouldn't knock you down and abscond with it for.

That third panel is pure gold.

JLGL is all about subtlety indeed.
