DescriptionThis is a nostalgic piece for me. I had bought the portfolio back when I was a teenager and hung many of the plates on my wall for years. This plate in particular was my favorite as I loved the character Eternity. I was always at awe every time I saw this character appear on a comic. As a young kid, I had attended a few astronomy lectures and was fascinated by the stars. Unsurprisingly, I loved the effect of the stars and universe that was used to create this character. This piece of art was locked away in Albert Moy's collection for a long time, but when he aquired the portfolio cover after the heritage auction - he decided to let this one go as a way to rationalize that purchase. I have done similarly with other art and it is great as a way to share the art and not hog every piece from a certain run or artist. If you read this far down, you are henceforth my new friend. Damn, this has to be my favorite piece from the portfolio plates. It seems simple enough but its just beautifully illustrated with so much meaning behind it

Great hit of nostalgia. A lot of dealers who got their start around this time period probably have the same feelings about Golden's artwork from this era because of how excellent and impactful it was to comics at large.

What is Albert going to do with your arm and leg?

I would trade my other arm and leg and live out my days as a stump for the right piece of art. Now come here and let me bite your leg off!

Great pick-up. No I don't have a lot of free time, but if someone has something to say about a piece of OA that I admire, I am going to read it. Congrats.

One of the best parts of CAF is seeing someone find a piece like this that means so much to them. My favorite of the plates for sure and I can understand why this one is such a memorable piece for you. Albert's gain is your gain!

Yeah, Eternity has always been a favourite character of mine, purely for the visual feast for the eyes his design offers. That he's included in addition to the Doctor Strange figure is a massive bonus!

That portfolio is lengendary and a great continuation of his comic work on the character. This is prime 80s Golden art for sure.

You are correct. I was actually astounded that he sold it. Hard to imagine that piece changing hands in my lifetime, but it happened three times in a relatively short period. Really goes to show the demand for vintange Golden. This stunning plate is another example of that.

Man that's gorgeous. Love how Doc in the fore is displayed vs Eternity in the back. Golden's rendition of Eternity, with the spaceways so clear throughout the silhouette...oh so good. Must look great in person. Big congrats, duke!

Congratulations on a great addition to your collection. I remember when the portfolio came out and just how blown away I was by the cover. I plunked my $10 down and brought the portfolio home. I was shocked when I opened the envelope and discovered that the plates inside were done in a different style (less rendering, more contrast). At first I was very disappointed, but as time went on, and I kept looking at the art, I kept appreciating the individual plates more and more. Now, it is one of my favorite Michael Golden gems and this particular plate (along with The Ancient One) is my favorite piece in the portfolio. How big is the original art?
