DescriptionSo I have been a huge fan of Ed's art for many many years and at one point I had more Ed art than any other artist. Then I got worried about having so much, that I wittled it down to 3 pieces.Back in the day I actually used to own the #5 cover of this series because when I tried to get the #6 cover, it was not available but I still wanted something. Was stoked when this came up recently and am excited to add it here on CAF. Oh and if you are wondering, I no longer have that fear of too much art by one artist..sigh. As always, thanks for checking out my gallery. Social/Sharing |

Damn man this is a fantastic McGuinness cover!!! And those inks from Vines really make the image pop. Awesome one, congrats!
Sidebar...If you don't have the "fear" now about having too much from 1 artist I'm curious why you did originally?

Fantastic cover. I love the contrast with the black background and the movement between the characters is captured so well.

Had the same fear about Grell back in the day. I too have overcome it ;)
Stemmed from having a difficult time making trades if the other party had no connection with the artist.
Strikingly great cover you have here!!

I love when Ed does these covers with the deep black backgrounds that set a tenser mood and really highlight the figures and the moment. I can't get enough of his work so glad you've overcome your fear! :)

Sweet McGuinness cover! He always draws a great Nightcrawler. Mystique looks fantastic as well. Terrific add!

Like that Ed used the dark background to really highlight the two central figures. Really great cover/image.

Why you always into Groo?
Buyin’ art, when they’re brand new
I ain't tryna tell you what to do
But try to play it Duke
Baby, I ain't playing by your rules
Anything look Dexter with a view
Why you always into Groo?
Buyin’ Ed, drawings brand new
I ain't tryna tell you how to Duke
But try to play it cool
Baby, I ain't playing with your Groo
Ed will then make cover both are blue, yeah
I could never get attached
When I start to feel, I’m on a bamf
Somehow always end up feeling bad
Baby, Raven is your dad
It's mom that you call Irene
I just want just more than three
Girl, it's obvious, elephant in the room
And we're the X comic, don't act so confused
And you love art of it, now I'm in a mood
Now Robert Downey is my Doc Doom
We buy page we love to provide the gun action
We been here before, and I won't be sword victim

Lol, that fear's no longer there, huh? Makes for some fun OA acquiring, but I get the *sigh* lol! I struggle with that one myself, but been doing OK. For now :)
Anyway, the art! Mother and son in a disagreement! Ed really does one of the best Nightcrawler renditions ever, and I dig here how he and Raven are framed by that all black background. Also makes their blue skin pop that much more in the published version :) Congrats, man!

The black background is excellent for a character like Nightcrawler. Mystique is looking good here, too. Who doesn't love a sexy femme fatale and skulls?
Oh, and you no longer have the fear of owning too much art by one artist? You never actually told me that. Good to know, as one should never set arbitrary limits to the quantity factor of their collections. As I've always said, if there is an artist whose work you love over and above most others, then it actually makes perfect sense that you would want to own significantly more of that artist's work.

Well done! But did no one tell Nightcrawler not to bring a knife to a gun fight!

Congrats on finally getting the right cover for you! Stunning work from Ed here - the composition is crisp and the execution flawless. Love the deep blacks. It's terrible when families fight.

Outstanding Amazing X-Men cover by Ed McGuinness and Dexter Vines! Stunning image of Mystique battling Nightcrawler--Parent versus child! McGuinnness composed an exciting battle scene with Nightcrawler practically on top of Mystique, swinging two swords while she tries to stop him with two automatic pistols! Dexter Vines's inks are on display here as well with the stiking all-black background. I love covers that use all-black backgrounds--They really makes the characters pop off that page! Just a great cover by McGuinnness and Vines, wonderful pick-up!
