Kyle Hotz

In the early 90s, Malibu Comics created the Ultraverse. There were a number of interesting characters and new titles. I bought more than a few. The Night Man became my favorite and I stayed on till the end. I even watched the low budget tv show. Night Man also seemed to be making a crossover into Marvel mainstream when Marvel purchased Malibu. But, all that fizzled out somewhere not long after this tie-in event called Phoenix Resurrection.

Years ago, I was in contact with Kyle Hotz. I let him know I was a HUGE fan of The Night Man in large part due to his artwork. Kyle's work added a darker, macabre feel to the series that jelled really well with the character and San Francisco setting. Kyle was kind enough to part with some of his art from the series. Thank you, Kyle!

Very rare cover in the brief moments of the Malibu and Marvel crossover event! Hotz was hitting on all cylinders on Nightman and his strong moody artwork was a factor on how the TV would envision the character in live action.
