DescriptionSometimes, when I get too picky over something I feel like I am in Seinfeld episode. That happens to me with inking. Even though I have been a fan of Tony Daniel's since his days on the Tenth, I haven't picked up any self-inked art by Daniel because the inking wasn't working for me even as his compositions continued to blow me away. All that changed when I saw this piece. Everything seemed to fall in place. These days, I find myself looking out for more art by Daniel. If you are a fan of the artist, he posts art right here on CAF and is super nice to deal with. As always, thanks for checking out my gallery. Social/Sharing |

Good one! I love that Tony is keeping it traditional inks over graphite and not going digital like so many others

Sweet cover, Duke, and if you're looking for more Daniel art you may want to check out Battle for the Cowl. He didn't ink it but really brought it on that series.

A lovely cover! Spidey's hidden superpower is his luck with the ladies!

Wow, using his standard fine pen lines and mixing in some illustrative dry brush technique really worked nicely. This is definitely more up my alley than anything he's done before. Nice pickup!

Completely agree with your sentiments about his normal inking style. It's too thin/fiddly/scratchy for me. None of that fussiness happening here. This is basically perfect.

Yeah, can see why you nabbed this one. Particularly love the pose, and inks on Felica - sublime stuff. And takes me back to those older Milgrom Spec Spidey issues, where I first found the Cat, and they were a couple. But also got a modern flair here, no doubt! Best o' both :) Congrats, man!

ELAINE: Cat, Hands?
Duke: The paws of a cat. It's like a creature out of Greek Mythology, I mean, she was like part woman, part horrible beast.
ELAINE: Would you, prefer it, if she had, no hands at all?

That two timing Dog...Wait, he's a Spider, kissing a Cat! Comics are so confusing.

Wow! What a memorable Spider-Man scene! The on again/off again relationship between the Black Cat and Spidey has had more than its share of ups and downs. Still, I love this romantic moment between the two. Beautifully drawn and inked by the incredible Tony Daniel. Great pick-up!

What a beautiful moment. Makes me think of a love song that plays in my head over and over again from a silly 80's spoof movie called the Pirate Movie. The song is called first love. Always takes me back to my first childhood crush. Kristy Mcnichol. Again love the artwork and what a fun piece to own. Congrats!

Great call, Duke - the inking here is superb, just as is the composition (I love Spidey holding an otherwise unsupported Felicia here). It's full of character, too, with Felicia's choice of hanging off of Spidey in mid-air feeling dangerous and anarchic (she's always putting the "chic" in "anarchic", isn't she...?). Great inking on the costumes and cityscape, and the wall they're both anchored to (directly or indirectly). Your patience obviously paid off here, Duke, because this is sensational! Great pick up - congrats!
