DescriptionAscension is David's first breakout series (after working on Cyberforce). The Style was so cool back then and I was a huge fan of it along with an avid reader of Wizard magazine. This is one of those covers.Social/Sharing |

When it comes to popular or favorite inkers on Finch, I think Danny Miki is probably who fans think of most. But for me, the duo of Finch and Batt was something really special. Never read a single issue of this book, but I just loved looking at the artwork. Great cover!

Really a standout example from Finch's work at the time, and in general. Love the 2 figures, and how BATT rendered inks on those wings! And I always like seeing Wizard covers posted - big "takes me back" images :) Congrats!

Congrats on adding a beautifully drawn Wizard cover to your collection. It's wild to see how much art they cropped out for the final cover and the other little editorial changes they made. Thanks for sharing.

I sit and wait
Duke this angel illustrates my fate
And Groo they know
The place of Chernobyl
When they’re grey and old
'Cause I have been told
That Asension lets their wings unfold
So when I'm lying in my bed
Thongs running through my head
And I feel Andromeda’s dead
He’s drawing angels instead
And through it all Finch offers me Ascension
Inkwork of Batt brings affection
Whether I'm right or wrong
And down the Wizard halls
Wherever Shamus takes me
I know that life won't break Fleed
When I come Top Cow, she won't forsake me
Got Lucien angel instead

It's a crime that the Wizard logo blocked the meticulous work that Finch and Batt did on the wings. This is a truly stunning piece.

Done at the time when everybody expected Finch to be Top Cow's answer to Wildstorm's Charest. Intense cover.

Wow, classic vintage cover by one of Top Cow's star pencilers. Interesting that Liquid draw a bigger panties with the coloration.

WOW, man! Great era of Finch art right here. He's refined his work subtly since then but I don't recall someone who burst on the scene almost fully formed in his style like he did. Congrats!

Stupendous add, Duke! A fantastic layout ("Hungry Finch" is a power that won't be denied) but the inks here add the intense magic that take it over the top, especially on those wings! Great figure work and hatching - awesome pick up, Duke! Congrats!
