Description

Barry Smith and Terry Austin The Uncanny X-Men #186 Story Page 35 Original Art (Marvel, 1984). Master illustrator Barry Windsor-Smith had returned to Marvel's mainstream only a year prior and provided his visionary approach of texture and detail on this issue for writer Chris Claremont's revered story "Lifedeath: A Love Story", making this arc one of the most unique in the X-Men canon and serving as the quintessential character study of the X-Men's resident weather goddess. Because of the tragic aftermath of the prior issue's events -- Storm finds herself powerless and defenseless in Dallas, TX with fellow mutant Forge, who is inadvertently responsible for the existential crisis the mohawked X-Man is having. Ink over blue pencil and graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". Faint toning, top right and bottom corners are trimmed, and there are marginal production notes. Signed in top by Barry Smith and lower area by Terry Austin. In Excellent condition

Austins inks on BWS are unparalleled! Maybe even more insane than BWS inking himself becuase Austin was up for this challenge. This is full on illustration that made the issue a special event. It further set up Storm to eventually become the most compelling leader of the team.
