Previously...

The origin story of Prince Namor the Sub-Mariner was first told by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Sol Brodsky in Fantastic Four # 4 (1962). In that book, Namor summons a giant monster called Giganto (II) to wreak havoc on us insolent surface dwellers. There is a great sequence where the ever-lovin' Thing straps a "small-yield" nuclear device to his back and packs it down into Giganto. I wanted to re-visit this scene because it shows off two of the Thing's best qualities: strength and sacrifice.

Great job by Tom a terrific traditional artist and that is meant as a supreme compliment. Wonderful inks by Doug, two wonderful artists in 1 great commission.

WOW! What's cooler than the Thing walking into a monster's insides with a uke strapped to his back. Tom nailed this one (better than Kirby did in FF4!)
