Description

This Collector, This Happy Repeat Customer!

The bonafides of the Lee/Kirby/Sinnott classic "This Man, This Monster!" from Fantastic Four 51 are beyond question. It remains the high water mark of Thing-related comic book storytelling for all time. Why does the Thing do what he does? To what lengths will Ben go for his teammates? It's all there in one slender, four color volume.

No wonder, then, that I wanted to include FF 51 in my gallery of all things Grimm. I proposed the idea to Ken Steacy, he took to the idea like a duck to water (FF 51 being a long-time fave for him, too), and we were away to the races.

Ken chose to re-visit the understated, yet pivotal scene in "This Man, This Monster" when a mysterious figure transfers the Thing's powers to himself while Ben sleeps. I love it.

My thanks again to Ken for being such a cool guy to deal with. It is for very good reasons that I have gone back to him time and time again for sketches and commissions (for me and for others).
