DescriptionGeorge Perez. The GOAT. JLA/Avengers - a series decades in the making. A trade over 6 months in the making. I'm behind on posting, and this be just a bit after Christmas, really feels right to post as it was in a way a gift.I have to thank Marcus Wai for this. We did a trade which placed me one step closer to completing 3 issues of Brave and the Bold as he had one of the two last covers that I was missing, and Marcus added this page in as a bonus. Not only was it overly generous of Marcus, it's more so because I was wrestling with the trade, and Marcus was patient and polite. While all original art is one of a kind, the trade with Marcus was rare. But, Marcus is a rare person who appreciated the art, and also, working with me to wrap my head around the trade. The cover I traded I was the caretaker waiting for Marcus to get it. Thank you Marcus for the trade and your patience. To the art: I've always wanted a page from this book, but when the series was released, even though pages were far more affordable, business was not good, and I couldn't afford to buy pages back then. Even a few hundred dollars back then was pushing it. So, I did the responsible thing, which was not easy, but was right. Flash forward to 2014 when I started buying art again, there weren't many pages available that spoke to me. And then as time passed, like many pages these days, it has to be the right page. There have been pages that popped up and some were more expensive than my comfort range. Some were affordable, but weren't pages that I would love enough. Don't get me wrong, this is a signature series of George's and any page is great, but if you're looking for your favorite page that will stand out, it's usually better to be patient than rush in, and regret and have to sell the page you bought to get the new page. Fortunately, when we did the trade, Marcus stated I could pick one of two JLA/Avengers pages that he had on him. Both pages are great, and it really felt like "Sophie's choice" as I wrestled with it and asked for a friends opinion, and finally chose this page as it is perfect. The JLA in the Flash Museum with the statues and their fighting Starro from Brave and the Bold #28, plus all of the Flashes running around, and some Avengers and a beautiful Hawkman and Blue Beetle and more. And Quick Silver looking on at the Flashes, does it get better than this? Maybe, but this is perfect for me. Thank you Marcus for the trade, and thank you George for all you've done for the industry and this fan. Social/Sharing |

There are a lot of fun things about this page, but that lower left-hand panel really jumps out!

Gorgeous pick up! Especially tickled by the presence of Blue Beetle and Hercules.

Very nice page Nick. I know what you mean about waiting for the right page rather than jumping for a placeholder.

A mind-bending mix of the two worlds. I love the panel with Quicksilver looking at the Speed Force display.

A lovely page! Sure sounds like Marcus makes it easy to work out a deal with. I wonder, did he immediately give you his opinion on the approximate value of his pages? If so, I might be interested in making a purchase from him!

Marcus was very easy to work with and negotiate with. It made it easier to let go of a GEM for this, plus, it was very meaningful for him.

Glad to hear that. Sounds like it shouldn't be a problem for him to put a price on a couple of Infinite Crisis pages in that case. Thanks, Nick.

No prices were discussed for this or the other page considered. This was to put the trade offer over the top. I'm just happy Nick took the lesser of the pages. I mean this one has Snapper Carr. The definition of D lister!

Oh yeah, you "sealed the deal" with this page as the "throw in", gotcha. Been there, done that. Sometimes a little extra juice is all it takes to seal a deal. And yes, you can never go wrong with Snapper Car appearances!

Trades are not easy, so when you can find a trading partner who makes it pleasant and low-stress, that is a gift. And what a beautiful and jam-packed page you got in the deal! Perez and Busiek are a stellar artistic team.
