DescriptionThis is a classic. I remember when it hit the stands! Klaus really captured Robin going through the drum! An homage to Flash Comics #92 (and similar to Detective #38!). Thanks to Mike Burkey for setting this aside for me!All of the info here is for the Black Canary/Green Arrow story since the cover is about it with the info for the primary story after. Synopsis for The Black Canary: "The Past is Prologue" Dinah Lance learns that her phobia is generated by her mother's memories (imprinted upon her own) of Pyra, a villainess with powers similar to Bonfire's, who was the one foe the first Black Canary failed to capture. Deciding that the way to break her phobia is to break with the past, Dinah designs a new Black Canary costume for herself, seeks out Bonfire, and is almost defeated by her foe again until she lashes out with her canary cry and bowls her over. She and the late-arriving Green Arrow take Bonfire into custody. And the Batman story: "Every time I see that kid my weird feelin' gets weirder... I always thought Robin was bigger and older too... hmmm... " — Harvey Bullock Harvey Bullock investigates suspicious activity at the Gotham Harbor and he summons Commissioner Gordon to the place. Moments later, the Bat-Signal is activated and Batman and Robin go into action. The ultimate Elder Scrolls experience Batman and the police analyze the evidence and come to the conclusion that there is a large smuggling operation taking place in an ocean liner at the Harbor. In order to capture the criminals, Batman goes underwater while Robin and Bullock approach on a small boat. During their small trip, Bullock interrogates Robin, as he notices there is something different to him from what Bullock can recall, although the Boy Wonder avoids giving away too much information. When Bullock and Robin reach the ocean liner, they climb to the deck, where they save the crew, but the main criminal jumps out of the ship. Batman gives chase to the criminal, who tries to use explosives against Batman, but all he manages is to destroy the ship's hull. With the criminals are captured, Batman and the police learn that the crooks were trying to smuggle a person out of Gotham City, unaware that the man had already been sentenced by the law to be deported to his own country on that same ocean liner. Great cover, and an unusual one since Batman is not the main attraction here. Nice pickup! Let me know if you ever decide to let it go as I would love to add it to my Bat collection. ;-)
