Description

First piece posted of 2022, and wanted it to be of Vampirella! This beautiful cover was painted by the AMAZING Mike Mayhew! I've been looking at it for a bit, and finally pulled the trigger. Thanks to Malcolm Bourne for such an easy transaction.

From Mike Mayhew himself: I had fun with this one. Definitely inspired by Drew Struzan's "circus poster" for Star Wards: A New Hope, this shows a posted bill for Harry Krishna's World's End Circus featuring Vampirella! Lots of hand lettering in this very unique cover. 11X17.

Some more info on the issue itself: In part one of "Hungry Ghosts," Vampirella's past begins to haunt her. With a peculiar circus aiding her, she enters a haunted house that no one has left alive. Also included is part one of the long-awaited return of Pantha by Mark Millar and Mark Texeira. The Regular Cover is rendered by Mayhew.

congrats on getting such a beautiful Vamp piece and a heck of a way to start 2022 and as i marvel at this Mike Mayhew painting i find myself humming Johnny cash's Ring of Fire.

Amazing how the black parts of her boots and hair are just hinted at within the black backgrounds. It has a joyous look as Vampirella finds fun in the ability to fly. I hope it is a circus situation more than a N64 Superman situation.

Happy New Year! Great cover to start the year with. Being that Vampi and related magazine art is the only thing I actively collect (with the exception of the original Moon Girl), I couldn't agree more with your first post for 2022. I myself had my eye on this as well. Great purchase...congrats!
