DescriptionGreat Dave Gibbons page! And this is a pre-Crisis tie in! The best part in some ways, this is before Marv turned the Monitor into the person trying to save the universe, and had him be an arms dealer! Masterfully drawn by Dave Gibbons! Thanks to Bechara for setting this aside for me!"Every 24 hours, when I charge this ring at the battery, I recite a sacred Oath -- And I don't intend to let it become just a bunch of empty words! Not now -- Not ever!" — Green Lantern Synopsis for "I Shot A Javelin Into The Air" Covered in a yellow polymer and falling to his death, Green Lantern manages to save himself using the oxygen trapped inside the golden casing and pop the plastic. He follows the trail Javelin and his men left behind, but it leads him to a javelin decoy abandoned in a junkyard. Empty-handed, Hal returns to Ferris Aircraft, where Carl Ferris is still facing an economical crisis, and their only salvation being the solar-powered jet they are so desperate to complete. Carl snaps out at his staff, but Carol makes him see that everyone is doing their best to keep the company afloat, and that the real person that caused all their troubles is Jason Bloch. Meanwhile, at the Congress, Jason Bloch contacts Javelin to check on the status of the solar engine he's stolen. Javelin had orders to destroy it, but instead he's using it to build a rocket to destroy Ferris Aircraft. Motivated by Clay Kendall's sense of duty, Hal decides to look for the engine himself as Green Lantern again. He returns to the scrapyard, hoping to use the javelin decoy to trace the foe's real location. After analyzing it, he realizes that his secret lair was right in front of him: bellow the junkyard. Suddenly, he gets attacked by Javelin's squad, but he defeats them easily and confronts the villain himself. The two foes clash again, and Green Lantern eludes all of Javelin's gimmicks. When he grabs the villain, Hal discovers the rocket, powered by Ferris' solar engine, shooting off from Javelin's lair with a trajectory to Ferris Aircraft. Leaving Javelin behind, Hal catches up to the rocket, takes out the engine, and redirects the missile to the sea, saving Ferris Aircraft. Meanwhile, on the pacific, a ship from S.T.A.R. Labs drops some toxic wastes to the water, causing the Shark to return to his mutated humanoid form. Social/Sharing |

Another great page. I love the layout. I once saw Len Wein in a comic shop but to too nervous to say hello. I remember him doing some Batman head sketches.

Gibbons GL pages are very rare and prized! The Crisis tie in is awesome and were dropping them in many titles. It shows how far ahead they planned and coordinated this event!

For a second there, I thought I was looking at an armored Mogo.
