DescriptionTonight was a great night.Went to Mike Mignola's gallery showing tonight, and it was amazing. I went with my friend Luke, and we both were hoping that one of us would be able to buy Mike's Red Sonja #1 cover. That was already sold. But I have to tell you that seeing Mike's art on the page is one thing, but seeing so much of it live is something else entirely. It is surreal. The man is a genius, and seeing the gallery filled with covers, paintings, pages, and more. WOW! I was bummed on the Red Sonja, but honestly, I should have expected it as it's the only time he drew a Red Sonja cover, and it was issue #1 for the 50th anniversary. So I'm in the gallery, with all of this beautiful art, and trying to remind myself that my goal was the Red Sonja cover, and I missed it. And I'm incredibly fortunate that I own a Hellboy cover that I bought from Mike years ago, so slightly less temptation there. Slightly. But Mike's art is beautiful. He is one of my heroes. And I kept gravitating back to this Batman cover and a Rocketeer cover. But the Batman cover has Joker and Robin. So I pulled the trigger, and I could not be happier. I present to you, Batman Death In The Family #1 by THE Mike Mignola! #mikemignola #mikemignolaart #originalart #originalcomicart #batman #batmanart Social/Sharing |

Brings an evolved Mignola look to the classic storyline that he did so many moons ago! The Barrucci household phone bill went up with numerous calls to 1-(900) 720–2660 back then.

"It belongs in a museum" or in your collection. Congratulations! A perfect example of his creepy style.

It's gorgeous, naturally. Sorry you couldn't get your hands on the Red Sonja cover, Nick, but congrats on this one. I know the Sonja is more meaningful because you publish her, but strictly from a collecting standpoint, this cover is FAR more desireable by the masses. Kudos!

Fantastic! Awesome to see Mike revisit this story--but also love the execution of this piece, the composition is so dense, with so much to look at and drink in. Congrats!

Wowza! Absolutely stunning cover for Mike Mignola's Batman: Death in the Family #1. Mike is one of those artists who've been doing this for so long and so well, you sometimes forget that he is still out there making new art and killiing it! I was delighted to hear about Mike's Gallery Show and wished I could have been there! It would be something to be stand in the middle of a gallery and be totally surrounded by the works of an artist of Mike's calibre. I'm happy for you that you were able to be there and congratulate Mike and even pick up another masterpiece for your fine collection. Sorry you missed out on the Red Sonja, but all us collectors get used to losing out as often as we win 'em. (I'd be happy to have a .333 average.) Anyway, great cover you did pick up--I haven't seen this one before but it's totally awesome! Congrats!
