DescriptionI love John Romita Jr. art, and Scott Hanna is a great inker on him and this cover especially! I've had this a few years, and glad I finally get to post it.Spidey and Wolverine face Moira MacTaggert on this cover that takes place during the Hellfire Gala in the mutant nation of Krakoa. "Dammit, Peter, this isn't about you! It's about responsibility. I thought you'd understand that." - Mary Jane Watson Synopsis for 1st story In a psychic interview, Spider-Man narrates when he was on Krakoa for the Hellfire Gala, eating and meeting his friend, Logan, before Mary Jane arrived. Short on time, the memories speed run to when Cypher (Doug Ramsey) relayed to Spider-Man about Mary Jane's SOS message, and his attacking Proteus before realizing Mary Jane was Moira MacTaggert's hostage with the collar being an extension of Moira around Mary Jane's neck. As it would have killed her if they followed, Logan kept Spider-Man at bay to plan a rescue as Mary Jane walked through the Paris Gate, whilst Greycrow tracked her movements. Exiting the psychic interview, Bishop reminds Spider-Man that they're there to help rescue her as well and Logan returns with Spider-Man's Suit and Glider Pack. Telling him to suit up, Logan's rescue plan was ready and had an EMP disc to short out Moira to free Mary Jane from her grasp. In Paris, Moira walks through as a holographic overlay atop Mary Jane's body demanding her arm reunite with her core body, coercing movement from Mary Jane demanding her freedom. But with Moira's prime consciousness stored in the hand, she squeezes Mary Jane's neck until she complies, unaware of Greycrow's pursuit.[1] In Krakoa, Logan brings Spidey to Gateway, who's eponymous powers open a gateway to Moira's location, bypassing the trap at the gate with all the killer gunmen. As the enemy are heavy armored shock troopers, Logan advises Spider-Man not hold back and he obliges for the sake of saving Mary Jane. Even so, Spider-Man still asks Logan not to kill or maim, much to his obliging discomfort, and Logan has him wait. Furious at the notion, Spider-Man calms down when Logan tells him that the Stepford Cuckoos gave Logan a mind link to Mary Jane to hide conversation from Moira, where Mary Jane would do what she could to delay Moira and lead her rescue to them. Logan tells the agitated Spider-Man that he needs to ensure that his worried friend has a steady hand, especially after hearing some troubling things about him. The wall-crawler assures his fastidiousness, a good thing as Logan received a location from Greycrow. At Sainte-Chappelle Cathedral, Moira exits her transportation and heads inside to find her main body and upholds her deal to "free" Mary Jane by freeing her form her mortal life, permitting her to die as slowly as she wants. However, Greycrow attacks to distract Moira and her armored subordinates, long enough for Logan and Spider-Man to arrive and break through their defenses. Using the EMP disc to remove the hand from her neck, Spider-Man and Mary Jane reunite whilst the two X-Men fight around them, and Logan has to remind Spider-Man to target Moira's hand. Sadly, he misses at each shot until Moira is fully restored to the murder machine she now is, and attacks Mary Jane intending to kill her and Spider-Man. Thankfully, Logan intervenes and saves them as a shield, and Greycrow advises they use the EMP disc once more, but Spider-Man's use is blocked by Moira sacrificing a subordinate and she flees through the gateway, mentioning that her plans will soon involve the destruction of all they hold dear.[2] Going through the New York City Gate, an escorting Peter and troubled Mary Jane have an awkward silence before he fails in trying to ask her out for coffee, asking if she can't go because of Paul and she confirms as much. When Peter asks if she loves Paul so much that she'd avoid him, Mary Jane yells that it was never about Peter and with a saddened voice tells him that it was about responsibility. Mary Jane then walks away disconsolate, having thought Peter would have understood that. Social/Sharing |

It used to be commonplace in the 90's to have Wolverine and Spider-Man guest star in each other's books. After the comics boom, they became more controlled and eventually became more rare. JRJR and Hanna are the perfect duo to bring this tradition back in 2022.

Spidey really needs to dump those metal shoulder pads, but other than that, this is a really sweet cover!
