DescriptionThis 2' x 3' original hand-painted movie poster artwork was commissioned by Troma Entertainment for the 1989 horror-comedy The Toxic Avenger III: The Last Temptation of Toxie.The promotional illustration, which years later saw publication in the 2018 coffee-table book The Art of Troma, is a B-movie fan's dream: a glowing Toxie in a pink polka-dot tutu wields an ooze-soaked mop, while the sight-impaired love of his life, Claire, stands by his side in a skimpy white nightgown with a walking cane in one hand and an uzi in the other. Looming over the couple is none other than the Devil, himself--his serpentine eyes staring down from the blazing background. The first superhero from New Jersey spawned Marvel comic books, a DiC animated cartoon, a Playmates action figure line, and even a series of Nintendo and SEGA video games. It's no wonder why the longest-running independent film studio is often called "The House That Toxie Built." Social/Sharing |
