DescriptionKudos to Jack for the fancy riding and shooting. (Don’t those first three panels kick the backyard!?) And kudos also to Stan for using the term “unhorsed.”I love how the starboard stirrup flies up in panel 2. Also the guy tucked under the wagon in panel 4. Also in panel 4: that diagonal trail of gunsmoke. Kirby was so good with depth and the details of composition. 1961 Kirby, Ayers, and Lee goodness. As a kid I loved reading Rawhide and thinking that the Kid’s jersey was pretty dang cool. Maybe I needed to get out more. Thanks to Bechara of Nostalgic Investments! Social/Sharing |

Great action page--love Kirby's cinematography in his Rawhide Kid work, this is an excellent example. Congrats!

Guy in panel 4 is not hiding. He's just checking for oil leaks. 19th century chuck wagons were notorious for them.

Fast paced action! You can see that Kirby was influenced by what he saw on the big screen with how cinematic this looks!

Wow! Incredible action scene from Jack Kirby and Dick Ayers! It looks like something out of a John Ford western movie. Fantastic layout by Kirby and sharp, crisp inks by Ayers. I can almost hear the soundtrack as I study the art. Great pick up, congrats!
