DescriptionWow! I can't believe I was able to get this. HUGE thanks to Joe Le for selling it to me!There are 3 pieces that exist with regards to this great cover from 1987. There is a pencil version of this cover, and to me, incredibly rewarding as I've hardly ever seen just Frank's pencils ever before! There is a light boxed inked version of this cover. My understanding is that Frank Miller owns that. And then there is the Lynn Varley color guide to the collection. Joe knows my love for everything Frank Miller, and offered it to me, and I jumped on it! There goes part of my retirement money! Social/Sharing |

That is too awesome! I remember seeing that cover in a book store many years ago. It was one of the first trade paperbacks I ever picked up!

Well, my dad would agree with you wholeheartedly. He retired at 76 and regretted it. He suggested that I never retire. He said it would kill me. ;-)

Wow wow!!! Although limited in the pencil lines, each line has a defined purpose, and the result is INCREDIBLE!
Thank you so much for sharing. This is going into my favorites!! :)

OMG - thanks for sharing such an amazing piece of history. The poster still remains one of my favorite framed pieces (I lost my signed one at a Big Apple NY Comic Con) but to see the pencils wow wow wow - congrats

Ninjas, ninjas everywhere. It has a bit of Ronin Miller to it and a bit of Dark Knight Miller as well. Cheers!

Those pencils are every bit as cool as the final piece! Nice to see what Miller's work looked like before the inks. Congrats!

The pencils here show just how talented Frank Miller is as an artist. The figure work and lines flow beautifully. My favorite FM period.

This pencil without a doubt shows why Frank Miller was such a power house in the 80's and 90's. This is pure energy wrapped in a montage of Ninja bodies. Congrats! The pencils are more impressive than the published cover.
