DescriptionWonderful early Mickey Mouse daily by the great Floyd Gottfredson. This comes from the 15th Mickey Mouse continuity (YM 015) “Blaggard Castle” and features Horace Horsecollar (Mickey’s sidekick in the adventure stories before Goofy took that place) captured by two of the villainous mad scientists, Professor Ecks & Professor Doublex. No Mickey in this one, but I like the eery set-up and the manical laughter of Professor Ecks…a throughout great example of this classic Mickey story…This is the first of only two surviving dailies (to the best of my knowledge) from this amazing storyline and probably the oldest surviving daily that was inked by the great Ted Thwaites (my favorite 1930’s Mickey inker). Thanks a lot to Andrea for letting me be it’s new caretaker…I remember this one well, as it used to belong to Max C., one of the first collectors I befriended on CAF 15+ years ago and one of the nicest guys around… :-)) First published December 9th 1932… I’m always looking for more Gottfredson / Mickey Mouse daily art from the 1930’s through the 1950’s, so if you have any you’d like to sell (or just to chat about - it’s always great to talk art), please don’t hesitate to contact me… Social/Sharing |

I admired this strip live at the Mickey Mouse exhibition in Desenzano sul Garda! Congratulations Monty, the strip is marvelous!!!
