DescriptionIt's well known that John Byrne worked on a lot of popular titles. I don't think Daredevil is one that folks think of however, when thinking Byrne. What I can say is that I am big fan of Black Widow from this time period and when I saw this cover come up it seemed like an opportunity I couldn't pass up.One more thing I will add - regarding John Byrne art - I was surprised the first time I saw Byrne art in person - just how much I would like it. It has a quality about it that for me, makes is just really satisfying. No doubt, I am one of the last guys to find this out. As always, thanks for checking out my gallery. Social/Sharing |

Those DD's look like they are in action to me.
Do they wobble to and fro?
Can you tie 'em in a knot?
Can you tie 'em in a bow?

Living in a house of art
Praying the bids doesn't grow too harsh
Looking at the differences
Widow to keep up appearances.
Murdock believes the day can be saved
You're aching in sleeve but
Deathly afraid of Black Widow
Web threads entangled you so.
He can’t see what Nat tease
Fighting away at two or three
Widow thighs are gapped so wide
Tell you too late you're Byrne victimized.
Fandom is clear but seems to elude you
Trying to change your dreams into
What your Fleed allows
Bids should be easy by now
Why is Duke always the last to know?
Falling back on cover plays
Stinging your damnedest to blast
You've thrown those childish dreams on page
It's cover, you say, still you ask
Why is Groo always the last to know?

What a great piece, Dan! The central figure defined by the screentone really pops against her assilants and the composition is a classic. Great get!

The Byrne fill-in covers from this era were always exciting to see any time one of them appeared on the stands. As a Daredevil reader and lover, this one was certainly one of those I loved. Congrats!

Super looking cover. This is super nostalgic for me too as DD #200 was my first comic along with Alpha Flight #3, both with Byrne covers. This must have been in the first 5 or 6 comics I owned. Great to see it and hope to see it in person in the near future.

Even without the lettering, the composition tells the story. Widow attacking with three of four limbs... DD looking relaxed as he watches from a distance... I miss covers like this.

It is completely true what you say. Byrne's art in live evidences how good he is. Perfect lines. No mistakes. Precision, accuracy, quality, dinamism etc... This cover is a superb example of that.

It's cool that Daredevil is up there on the roof, but MAN does Black Widow steal the show on this one ... obvi. A John Byrne masterpiece, congrats!

Lovely image of Black Widow by Byrne, and the zip gives it the extra pop on the page to stand out from everything else. Congrats!

Fabulous Daredevil cover by the incredible John Byrne! I've always loved John Byrne's women--There's just something so strong and powerful in the way he depicts female superheroes! Black Widow here is portrayed taking down multiple thugs at the same time. She's strong and confident...and deadly! Byrne was so good at drawing action scenes like this one with Widow punching one guy while kicking another in the stomach and zapping a third guy with her Widow's Bite--He makes it look almost easy for her! I love the tiny Daredevil figure on the rooftop, his arm in a sling, looking down on the action. What a terrific cover, congrats!

Yup yup, a biggie that I'm glad to be seeing now in my overdue CAF catch-up! IMO really hard to beat for a Byrne example, DF. Action packed cover shot, exquisitely composed, by the man, Mr. Byrne. Love how Natasha's like a whirlwind at the center, being framed by all the baddies. The subtle zipatone grey adds to that, too. Big congrats, man!
