Description

"She Was Spangled and Flashy" was Carl Barks� 109th Disney oil painting done in his prolific 1971 - 1976 period. The sketch here, drawn full size (20" x 16") on vellum, was begun in blue pencil and then roughly worked in brown ink. Not seen on this xerox of the framed original is a red circle in the background in almost exactly the position of the final painting�s stage lightning. The sketch and the oilpainting, as well as the Uncle Scrooge story "Back to the Klondike", can be seen in book 1 of set III in the Carl Barks library.

Provenance: Early 1980s Russ Cochran Art Auction.
