DescriptionNice gag in panel 3: Logan takes the cigar from Nick's mouth to lit his own - from the glory days when a few comic characters smoked a lot (mostly super-masculine ones like these two and big-boss bad guys like the Kingpin or Hammerhead and of course only in Marvel comics :). I also love the - oldschool "not as tall as Hugh Jackman" Biker-Wolvie and the resolute full body Nick Fury in his classic, well equipped "costume" ! From the special oversized 50th issue of the first ongoing Wolverine series (with the unforgettable yellow "die-cut" gimmick cover), which was also sadly one of the last three issues in Silvestri's beautiful run before moving to/founding Image Comics ! Usual delicate Dan Green inks, Hilary Barta and Tom Palmer are credited as ink assistants in this issue.Social/Sharing |

I've fond memories of Silvestri's run on Wolvie... Fantastic page from a memorable issue!

This is a killer page, Tommy. I thought whoever won this in the recent auction would be lucky to have it. So indicative of both Silvestri's pure illustration AND storytelling skills. Love the big panel as well as close ups of both bad boys here. And the more I learn about OA and inking specifically the more I'm impressed with Green! Congrats, man!

Wonderful page of a time past.
If created today, Marvel writers would have them smoking cloves and wearing Birkenstocks.

So much awesomeness. I'm a sucker for Wolverine on a motorcycle. Thanks so much for sharing.

Totally agree on Silvestri as great storyteller. Too bad he appears to have lost interest in doing monthly books. Green's inks are awesome, and even better in person.

I bid on this beauty. Glad to see the winner loves all the same stuff about it that I do. Great page that's really a time capsule of the early 90's for Marvel.

For someone who doesn't collect panel pages, I would easily make an exception for this beauty. This really shows Marc's growth as a penciller. The amount of work he put into Logan's close up panel (as well as Fury's profile in the preceding panel) is amazing. And of course that full figure shot of Fury just makes the page. About as perfect a Silvestri page as you could want.
