1996, Spawn and Terry Hug It Out; Finale Splash

Greg Capullo provided pencils and Todd McFarlane provided inks for this finale page from Spawn #54 (1996) featuring Spawn and Terry Fitzgerald hugging it out as Terry realizes that his old friend still cares about him.

Spawn was Todd McFarlane's initial contribution to Image Comics, the creator owned company he started with a group of other hot young artists who left Marvel in 1992 to start their own company. McFarlane was one of the top creators of the time and the initial issue of Spawn sold 1.7 million copies. The book remained a top seller for years and is still published today, almost a quarter of a century later.

Todd McFarlane has recently completed a screenplay for a new Spawn movie so the character may be receiving a boost in the near future. McFarlane's line of Spawn action figures revolutionized that industry, showing that highly-detailed figures could be massively produced for an affordable price.

Following his long association with Spawn, Greg Capullo would go on to become a superstar as the artist of the New 52 Batman run that ended 2016, along with more recent Batman-related projects.
