2013, Deadpool vs. Mephisto

Tradd Moore drew this highly detailed Deadpool vs. Mephisto cover for Deadpool #12 (2013). We see Deadpool on a throne-like chair with Mephisto looming behind him.

Deadpool, the mega-popular fourth wall-breaking anti-hero, is the biggest comic book character introduced since Wolverine--and there have been a lot of comic book characters created in that time! First seen in 1991's New Mutants #98, Deadpool often stars in multiple solo series at once. The 2016 Deadpool movie generated $782 million at the worldwide box office, setting a new record for an R-rated movie and demonstrating that Deadpool is indeed one the biggest characters in the history of the medium. The movie and its star, Ryan Reynolds, were both nominated for 2016 Golden Globe Awards. Deadpool 2, the first of likely many sequels is in the works, with a targeted release date of May 18th, just a few months away. The film will also star Josh (Thanos) Brolin as Cable.

Mephisto is one of the Marvel Universe's versions of the Devil. He first memorably appeared in Silver Surfer #3 (1968) and he's returned many times over the decades to torture various Marvel heroes. He's probably best known for his role in destroying the long-time marriage of Peter (Spider-Man) Parker and his wife Mary Jane, which took place in the "One More Day" saga's final chapter, Amazing Spider-Man #545 (2007).

Tradd Moore is the artist and co-creator of the Image Comics series, Luther Strode. He is also known for his artwork on Marvel's All-New Ghost Rider.
