The Legendary Batman: The Animated Series Artistic Force Draws Batgirl

Master artist Bruce Timm illustrated the popular Barbara Gordon version of Batgirl for this pin-up. Timm, in addition to being the acclaimed co-creator of Batman: The Animated Series and its breakout sensation, Harley Quinn, has also became a modern master of "Good Girl" pin-up art. This piece nicely combines both of those interests.

Batgirl AKA Barbara Gordon AKA Oracle is the daughter of Police Commissioner James Gordon. She first appeared in 1967's Detective Comics #359 and also appeared in the third season of the Adam West Batman TV show around the same time. She was initially a librarian in her secret identity but later ran for Congress and won. After being paralyzed by the Joker in the one-shot Batman: The Killing Joke in the late 1980s, Babs took up the identity of Oracle, a super computer hacker type, using her library skills. She helped the Suicide Squad and Batman before setting up a female espionage operation called Birds of Prey working with Black Canary and sometimes other female DC heroes for what has become a long running team title. Since 2011, Barbara has recovered from her injuries and is once again operating as Batgirl.

Bruce Timm is best known as the co-creator of the acclaimed Batman: The Animated Series and the co-creator of the incredibly popular Harley Quinn. He's become one of the top pin-up artists of his generation as well.
