Description

Very early Kirby strip (I think nr.73) from second story - The Hicks Formula. Some fantastic detective work with Rip and Desmond. Also bonus is Rip's pipe in 3rd panel. Raymond used blue-ish ink wash in all panels which is not so common in Kirby strips (looks very effective, especially in night scenes like this one).

One of the best Rip Kirby strips I have ever seen in CAF. 1946 is my favourite RK year, this strip is a beauty and I love the blue ink/pencils. 3rd and 4th panels are my favourites. Congratulations on such a great finding!.

Great looking Rip Kirby. Raymond was a master of lighting and texture and so much of that is on display here.

Alex Raymond was a genius. His work, on Flash, Secret Agent X-9 and Rip Kirby, was always spot on. This is a splendid example of his work. Congrats!

Love the characters and everything surrounding them - forgrounds, backgrounds, lighting. Just got a few Rips over the past couple months - really interesting to open a door into a new arena of comic art
