While the there's not a lot of camera angle variation, DeZuniga provides crystal clear storytelling with gorgeous black spotting that adds a lot of weight and a sense of dread and mystery to the proceedings. Lovely page! I'd love to hear YOU speak a bit about what you love about the art though, Peter, rather than spell out what is happening on the page, since we can see/read it ourselves. What is it it that moves YOU about this particular piece?

Thanks, Rubén. Even though I'm not a horror art collector, I like the mysterious atmosphere of the last two panels and the creepy disfigured face in the armor foreshadowing the captain's fate. DeZuniga's depictions of the captain and the mistress of the castle are nice. He caught the surprise of the captain in mid-stride in the third panel and he added to the mood with the shadow across the captain's back in the last panel. The collection now has what I think is a nice example of DeZuniga's limited DC war art, which is limited to seven issues of Weird War Tales.

Now THAT is commentary worth of your page's description! Thanks so much, Peter. You see, you do have quite a lot to say about it and you say it very well. You should always do this for every page you post! The fact that you noticed the soldier is in mid stride in the 3rd panel also tells me that you have an above average eye, as a little detail like that is not typically noticed by the average comic book fan. For me personally, sharing images is one thing, but just a part of the overall experience of sharing art with others. I've always felt much more excited to enjoy looking at a page when it comes with a description telling me what the owner loves about it. It just adds so much more to the sharing component of our shared hobby. I agree with all the points you made, except for one. I think the reason you feel this still fits in your collection is because this ISN'T really in the Horror genre as much as it fits into Mystery and/or Suspense. As I said, a really wonderful looking page. I miss seeing new DeZuniga work so much. This is a treat!

Thank you for the kind, encouraging words, Rubén! Excellent point that horror and mystery/suspense are distinct genres! I tried a more personal approach in today's posting of a 'Nam page.

I am guessing Paul is a descendant of Giuseppe Nero, since Nero translates to Black.

Thanks, Miki! Excellent point! It's also the last name of the reportedly dissolute Roman emperor.

Great looking interior page! I love the work in the 3 different looks/angles we get of the tank and also the highly detailed interior of the castle itself.

What a strong DeZuniga example to add to your collection Peter!
The spotting of blacks are placed so perfectly leading you through the page. The heavy panels at the bottom immediately place you indoors opposed to the open backgrounds of the outdoor ones.Very solid layout.
Really makes me want to go read the whole story.
Congratulations on the addition to your collection and thanks for choosing to share it here with us on CAF.

Thanks, Mark! The blacks of her dress guide my eye through the last three panels. I also particularly like how she's drawn in the final panel.

Whenever there's a lovely lady present, we can always count on at least one horn dog to chime in and point that out, eh Mark? 😂

Such a very beautiful page. That central panel is delicious.
